Submission declined on 5 July 2023 by Spiderone (talk). We're sorry, but we cannot accept blank submissions. If in fact you did include text within the article, but it isn't showing, please make sure that any extra text above your entry is removed, as it may be causing it to hide and not be shown to the reviewer. Comment: Can you fix the cn tags and expand the article with text demonstrating in what ways Imgflip is notable (how widely used, history, who has used it and how it grew to popularity etc.)? With those two changes I think we should be good to go. Caleb Stanford (talk) 04:14, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
Comment: The sources don't demonstrate notability. For a subject to be notable, it needs to show coverage in multiple sources independent of the subject - the creator's LinkedIn and the website itself are not independent. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 02:24, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Comment: Your sources do not prove notability under WP:NORG. Qcne (talk) 19:58, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Imgflip (pronounced "Image flip")[1] is an image generator and a social media platform that allows users to create internet memes in the form of images, animated GIFs, demotivationals, pie charts, or artificial intelligence made images.[2] It also offers Imgflip Pro, a paid membership that removes the watermark on images and allows users to view the site ad-free.[3]
History
editThis section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. (March 2025) |
Imgflip was created on June 29, 2011[4] by Dylan Wenzlau, who also founded Guava Health.[5] Imgflip started as an image macro engine.[6]
Features
editMeme generator
editThe meme generator features several user-generated templates with the ability to upload custom ones.[2] It provides tools for users to customize their images, like drawing, adding stickers and modifying the text's fonts, colors, size, placement and other settings.[7]
GIF maker
editImgflip includes a "Video to GIF" tool, which, like the meme generator, provides several user-generated GIF templates, with users being able to upload their own.[8] It allows users to customize their GIF by changing the speed, text, rotating and other settings.[9] There is also an "Images to GIF" tool, where users can upload a collection of still images, arrange them and turn them into a GIF.[8]
AI models
editImgflip includes a Classic Model that is trained with public images on the website, being limited to a handful of meme templates, some sources have said it might make sense sometimes, other times it doesn't, but still mostly consider it funny.[10][11] There is also a more advanced ChatGPT model, which can be used in any template, the model can also create its own image templates prompted by the user.[12] Both models can "predict" captions by clicking an image, however, users can input a subject of their choice and both models can base their caption on it.[12][13]
Android app
editIn September 22, 2020, Imgflip introduced an Android app.[3] As of March 2025, Imgflip has not released an app for iOS.
